My name is Andrew Settlemire, and I thought that I would try out the freelance thing because currently I'm unemployed. So what can I tell you about myself?

I graduated from CSU Chico in December of 2008 with a degree in English-Education. I really love reading and writing and it is my goal to some day teach high school. Currently, I'm going through the teacher credential program to become a licensed teacher-- I really love working with high schoolers, I think they have a lot to offer the community around us.

On my hub you are most likely to find a bunch of movie reviews. So let me get this out of the way: Just because I might like or dislike a movie doesn't mean that you will also... I realize that. However, I would like to treat this place as a forum in which people can agree or disagree with me. Tell me your opinions. Let me know what you're thinking.

Let me be completely honest with you, I have a penchant for sci-fi and fantasy. I grew up reading fantasy. Some of my favorite authors include: Tad Williams, Neil Gaiman, Terry Brooks, J.K. Rowling, J.R.R. Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis. I've never been a big sci-fi fan as far as books are concerned but I do enjoy a good sci-fi movie. I also appreciate a good fantasy movie. I'm telling you this so you'll understand that I am a little biased.

My thought is to begin my reviewing movies. My dad has encouraged me to review movies because he knows that I see a lot more than I should. Honestly, I just really love movies and have loved them since I was a freshman in high school (1999) and was first hired to work at a small town video store-- where most of the time it was slow enough for me to zone out in front of a movie. In fact, I would hazard to guess that I've seen most mainstream movies that have been released between 1999 and now.

Later, I would like to venture into discussing other topics such as books and the way we live our lives. We'll see where the road takes us.
